About Nancy

Dr. Nancy Girdhar is currently a Lecturer in School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics at the ҹèÊÓÆµ. She was awarded a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Jawaharlal Nehru University, India, in 2019 and a Master’s degree in Computer Science and Technology from the same university in 2015. She was awarded the UGC-CSIR Fellowship, India (2017–2019) and has qualified for the UGC-NET, India (2015). Her teaching experience includes roles as an Assistant Professor at prestigious universities, where she taught machine learning, and artificial intelligence, while supervising undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.

Her research primarily focuses on the intersection of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and natural language processing, with specific expertise in signed social network analysis, and document layout analysis. She has contributed to several projects, including the NewsEye project, which received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 program and was honored with the European Heritage Award / Europa Nostra Award in 2024. Additionally, she has been involved in other funded projects such as Accessibilité des Nouvelles de Nouvelle-Aquitaine (ANNA) and Au-delà des Pyrénées (PyPA), both supported by Nouvelle-Aquitaine Regional France, as well as ENP-CHINA, funded by the European Research Council. Her research contributions have been recognized internationally, with several awards, including the Best Paper Award at ICADL 2023, SIGMA 2018, and ICIIC 2017. For more information .
